1) Workshops

  • Teaching Daily Living Skills

In this workshop you will learn to use ABA strategies to teach your child daily living skills. These skills include getting dressed and personal hygiene. The strategies you will learn include prompting, chaining and shaping.
  • Understanding Behaviour (Behaviour 101)

In this workshop you will learn how to define behavior, including examples of appropriate and challenging behavior. You will learn how to apply the Antecedent-Behaviour-Consequence (A-B-C) Model, looking at the different functions of behavior and general teaching strategies.
  • Teaching Play and Social Skills

In this workshop, you will learn why it is important to teach play and social skills. You will learn how to create opportunities for teaching in your child’s natural environment such as at home and out in the community.
  • One Bite at a Time

This workshop is aimed at helping you develop strategies to address eating challenges your child may have.
  • Reinforcement 101

Apr 14 | 6:30-8:30 pm | Torbram site
Reinforcement is a key principle to Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). You will learn to distinguish between negative and positive reinforcement, identify possible reinforcers for your child and how to fade the reinforcers.
  • Toilet Learning: Let’s talk about your expectations

This workshop will focus on strategies to help you and your child during the development of skills necessary to become toilet trained.
  • Visual Strategies

Apr 16 | 9:30-11:30 am | Burloak site
For caregivers of both verbal or non-verbal children looking to provide additional visual support systems in order to support the child’s communication at home, at school and in the community.
  • Steps Towards Positive Change

Apr 27 | 9:30-11:30 am | North Sheridan site
Once you understand why your child behaves in certain ways, you may wonder what to do next. In this workshop, you will learn what happens before an undesired behavior occurs, what to do after it occurs, how to set goals to change the behavior, and strategies you can use to teach your child replacement behaviours.
